The AA.....disgusting!

Just got off the phone to the AA and need to have a rant!
Car insurance renewal came at the start of May but got hidden under a pile of other stuff and only re-discovered last night.
At the time of renewal I changed vehicles and was told the new policy was 578.00 plus 78.81 interest! Total 656.81 for fully comp and 175 excess
Been shopping around and can get this down to 281.69 for fully comp and 100 excess.
The AA now tell me I am liable to pay 184.31 to cancel the policy if I want to move elsewhere.
Is that right? That seems shocking!
I have been with them for 2 years previously and have breakdown cover with them as well!
Not happy!!!!

I pay monthly.....
They say that its 2 months in arrears (roughly 120.00) plus a cancelaation fee (60.00)
Might just cancel and instruct the bank not to allow any payments to the AA!
Very p**s*d off as if they could match the other premium, or even get close, I was going to move my B&C insurance to them too!0 -
It's standard practice for Insurers to skew premiums for cancellation. It's meant as a deterrent to stop you switching mid term and to cover their admin costs.
I'd be wary of instructing the bank to stop payments as most (but not all) insurance payment plans fall under the Consumer Credit Act and they could issue a default notice. The man without a signature.0 -

I normally do but as stated the letter got hidden under a pile of the girlfriends magazines!0

If you don't pay and they cancel your insurance you will have to disclose this in any future quotes for insurance. This will probably lead to more expensive quotes and/or companies not quoting. I suggest you get things ship shape first, then make a fuss.0
