Backdate ESA?

I've been on ESA for almost a year now without being placed in a group, apparently they have the worlds longest backlog of claiments so that is why it's taking this long...

When or if I get placed in a group, will I get backdated the extra money from the 14th week?

So if I get placed in the support group, they will backdate me the extra amount I should have been getting sinse the 14th week?

Anyone confirm?

*EDIT* I also just found out that I can get the severe disability premium as I get enchanced PIP rate or something so will this automatically go onto the ESA backdated pay or is this something totally different that I have to apply for independantly?

All claims for ESA, if awarded, are backdated to the 14th week.

Yeah I kinda guessed that but I meant the severe disability premium, does that also get backdated to the 14th week?

I checked on entitledto and I am entitled to it so I was just wondering if you actually have to apply for it or if it just gets thrown ontop of your backdated esa?
  • You have to apply for the Severe Disability Premium, but it will be backdated with any ESA you are entitled to.

The severe disability premium is backdated to either the start of your ESA claim or when your PIP claim started. It depends when you started claiming PIP. It has nothing to do with to do the 14 th week.

Can you tell me how I apply for it? Should I just ring up the ESA or PIP people and go from there or is there a form online or something?

You have to phone up ESA and ask for the form.
