Hi Northfin, your £10 has probably paid off at least £1.80 for a weeks standing charge, maybe even 2 weeks, also its most likely paid off £4 in emergency credit, so you have only had less than £5 worth of electric. Your tariff ( pence per kwhr ) is on one of the screens . Your weekly standing charge is also on the screen. Check screen "S " also , that has any debt loaded on it and the weekly repayment rate on screen "T "

We have both gas and electric combined. I do not understand any of the screens or bottons, a bit affraid of it.

soon we will get a DRO, then swap to another company.

Thank you all for so many helpful posts.

This is a very good forum.
  • People who are moved to PPMs because of arrears are amost always put onto their supplier’s standard prepayment variable tariff, which is almost never the cheapest. A PPM because of arrears will cost around £253 more on average than a PPM without arrears because of the tariff advantage. Your meter will take around £6.50 to £7.00 per week minimum from your old arrears .. .. before you begin paying for any 'current' use.

But after a DRO has gone through, then you can stay on PPM but choose a good deal? It can be the same deals on PPM as on contract?

It should be cheaper on PPM, they are getting the funds sooner.

Prepays cant go on cheaper fixed deals, they are stuck on standard variable tariffs. Maybe when prepays are in" smart prepay mode " that will be possible. Ofgem mentioned that possibility about a downward pressure on prepay smart meter tariffs as suppliers find the easier and cheaper payment options more attractive and can offer the yearly fixes. they can quickly and cheaply credit the meters by a few different ways like a mobile phone.

A way to stop their warrant is togo to court on the day they apply for the warrant, it will likely only to be a court clerk and say that you want to arrange to pay and that a prepay will have a negative impact on you.

They will throw the warrant out
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Thanks Chanz that is very good info.

I just need a little more time, so this is my plan. So the day someone shows up with the warrant I tell them politely I am going to court today to arrange a payment plan?
