On the advice of mse (sorry folks) i went to change my duel fuel energy supply with EDF from my present tariff ending in march 2015, to the same tariff from march 2015 to march 2016, sounds complicated i know, so i did the deed and everything was okay, I then checked the new tariff and changed. What an idiot, read through new tariff, all charges, kw,standing charge etc for march 2015/16 will be charged as of today, so paying next years charges now. I did manage to have it cancelled, so be very careful when swaping to early. the bandits are still out there.:doh:

You can't 'post date' a tariff, and never have been able to. Nor does it suggest anywhere that that's the case.

So just to clarify: your current tariff, payable to next March costs £x per KwH, but the new tariff costs £x+ per KwH and is effective immediately you sign up? If that's the case the bandits really are at it again!

The clue is in the phrase 'fixed tariff'. The prices are the same from when you sign up to the end of the contract period, be it 2015, 2016 or 1017.

Yep. So the idea is to sign up to a new one as your old one is coming to an end, normally not before - though there could be exceptions.
