Low Earner and Maternity Looming - Worrying and Not sure where to Start

Hi All,
I was wondering if you could help please?
Myself and my partner are currently not claiming any benefits. However I was made redundant some months back and she is pregnant and soon to be going on maternity leave.
She is currently the main bread winner as I have gone back to re-train in a job and do not earn enough per annum to be taxed at the moment.
Her maternity pay is going to be a reduced salary for 3 months and then statutory Payments. She was also hoping for a year off with baby - which I think is important, but as statutory runs out after 9 months we are not sure this would be possible.
Is there any benefits that we can be claiming to hep our situation, as I am worried now more than ever we will struggle to make our mortgage payments etc.
Any help you can offer would be most appreciated - as not sure where to start on this.

If you are over 25 years then you may be eligible for working tax credits before the baby is born.
Once the baby is born then you become eligible for child benefit and working and child tax credits (no age limit)
You might also be eligible for council tax reduction (depends on your income/savings.)
You could put your details into the benefit calculator here:
