SatinWood. Which best to replace Gloss

The new Johnstone's Aqua Water Based Satin may be worth a try, I've used the Gloss version with good results.
There's a matching Aqua undercoat as well.
This is different to the normal Johnstone's Satin mentioned in an earlier post.0 -
Hi
We always wipe down old gloss paint with sugar soap solution, rinse, let dry, and sand back.
The Dulux from 3 years ago has now yellowed.
The Crown from 4 months ago seems to have very poor adhesion - I can literally scrape it off with my fingernail, eg around a screw hole.?
Anyone else with this issue ?
Regards to all0 -
Used Crown (solo?) water based Satinwood.
I found it very easy to apply, coverage was good, barely needed 2 coats (perhaps as it was solo? i.e. one coat - yeah right!) and finish was very smooth.
Only negative I have is that a year or so on we have black marks here and there where it has been scraped (kids) on the skirting boards. Not sure if this is a feature of Crown paints or simply a water based Satinwood. Maybe oil based would form a more durable surface?
Then again, with 1-2 hrs between coats and no stink from the water based paints I doubt I would go back to oil based for indoors.0 -

YES there was a problem with Dulux gloss in 2009-2010 yellowing. We had this problem, didn't think much of it till I saw it on Watchdog! They sorted out the problem with the mix, think it might have been something about new regs with chemicals but the more recent batches should be ok again0 -

Have you tried one of the sponge erasers on the scuffs ?0 -
All oil based paint will yellow over time. Water based will not, ever, because it doesn't have the same stuff in it that turns yellow. You get stink free, quick drying stay white paint which is great but the coverage isn't so good, you'll never get a true gloss if that's a look you want and it chips off really easily so you will have to redo it a lot more frequently if you have kids/pets etc knocking it. I use Johnstone's Aqua satin and undercoat which gives a nice mid sheen finish but it will not stand up to being scraped or knocked like good old oil based gloss does so just be aware of that.0
