In answer to your query, OP, I work in neither HR nor management. My role is to advise both HR and management on how to deal with all manner of employment issues.
When I referred to your GP, I meant that just because your GP says you are fit for work, this is not enough. Your GP will not know the ins an outs of your role, what you need to do on a daily basis and the mental and physical requirements. This is where OH are important. They will receive a report from your GP and put it into the context of the role you perform.
The OH assessment is your first opportunity to explain why you have been emotional and agitated, and then you can probably do the same again in the follow-up meeting with your employer and also with any grievance meeting they hold. Explain that a manager or managers has been doing x since date y, with specific examples such as z. Explain how things used to be handled differently, or how there is a personality clash or whether a procedure has changed. Be constructive - suggest workable solutions such as clear procedures, rules and guidance for all to follow, mediation with the manager/s in question to discuss the difficulties and find a way forward or perhaps changing shift patterns to ensure someon approachable is always available in case there are any problems.
Positive pro-active practical suggestions will mean you can engage meaningfully with your employer and they will know you have thought this through, that you want to return and that you are keen to work through the problems.0 -
Privicus, OH do not have a clue about my role, I had to tell him what I do on a daily basis
All my work supplied was a paragraph to him that I appeared agitated, angry and emotional, they couldn't even get basic dates correct in that
My GP knows me far better than OH does
I am remaining positive in everything though, and have spoken to my union today to clear things up
As it stands I'm on leave pending my GP report and we will then have a meeting to discuss it
I'm not losing out on any of my own leave, so I'm relieved that I'm not being penalised for this0 -
Expect your GP to give full details of your PTSD and the treatment they've advised you to take for it.I've worked there over 22 years and lived with PTSD since 1993.................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Because you have a long standing mental health problem of no little significance and you work in a highly stressful environment......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
