UKPC parking fine

Looking for advice.
Put £2.60 in Meter, failed to notice 10p gone straight through before pressing button for ticket. Ticket then showed that I had paid £2.50 f 1hrs parking that should of cost £1.60. Left a note by ticket in windscreen explaining what had happened as I felt this was reasonable. I returned around 70 mins later to find I'd been issued with £60 fine. I appealed to Ukpc, who appeared to disregard my letter totally. Then appealed to POPA who did the same, have now received notice I have 14 days to pay £100 or it will increase to 160. Should I pay under these circumstances, asked for advice on 'honest John' site & the advice was to pay. I really don't want to pay as i can't see where the company has received any financial loss _ my ticket was issued a couple of mins past the hour, as mentioned before a fee of 1.60 when I had paid 2.50 which was only 10p short of 2 hrs! Need to know whether to grit my teeth and pay or ignore this, can anyone advise?

Oh dear. You went to the wrong place for advice long ago and should have come here.
You have missed your golden opportunity with POPLA.
Read post 4 of newbie thread (see my signature) and prepare yourself for a barrage of debt collector letters. Ignore all of them.
Fortunately for you UKPC do not do court. See here

In theory they have 6 years to chase you but probably won't.
So advice from here is not to pay.Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. If you'd used that single sentence at POPLA stage you would have won. Never mind, this is only UKPC! They only try a small claim once in a blue moon (or twice as the case may be in one I know about...). They are very ignorable, it will just mean a pile of junk mail and the only thing to take seriously would be a small claim, court papers, which won't arrive and if I am wrong then it's very defendable too.I really don't want to pay as i can't see where the company has received any financial loss
Of course you don't pay them. This is UKPC and you will now get the debt collector letter chain for months, that we all ignored before POPLA was ever an option. A big fat 'so what?' to that really, they are just letters. Then you'll get more letters.
You'll miss them when they bog off and move on to a weaker victim. Honest John is a hopeless website about private parking tickets - they get the advice wrong more often than they get it right.
Next time come to MSE first about any financial issue, or any dilemma really. We'd have got this quashed with one appeal to UKPC as they give up when they see our version. Now you have left the door open to junk mail for a year or so!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

thanks for those replies that puts my mind at rest. I can't believe these companies, they actually owe me money for the time i parked there.
They can send as much paper as they want i can use it to help start my wood-burner.
Is there anything else i need to do?0 -
No, only of you should actually get and LBA/LBC/MCOL should you do something. (see post 5 of newbie thread for explanation.
