Re-activation of cancelled Barclaycard

Hello,

I have a Barclaycard cashback card (former Egg card) which has been activated when I refused a rate increase. I have been paying the outstanding balance (more than the minimum every month) and I have a small amount left. I am thinking of asking Barclaycard to re-activate he card as I would like to to use it again.

Has anybody done this before? Is there any chance of them saying yes?

Thanks,
Andy

  • Unlikely as the account will have been closed.
  • I disagree with zx81 (which is unusual). I think there is a good chance they'll - a friend did this with MBNA. They must keep the account open in some sense, given they continue to generate statements, apply interest and (perhaps) late fees etc. Also a CPA could bring the account back to life (though instead they could in some circumstances decline the transaction).

I doubt they'd re-activate the card. They'd probably re-issue it (if they agree).

Worth a try if that's what you want.
