Santander Won't Update my Credit File

Hi,
My wife and I went bankrupt in Feb 2010, discharged 1 year later. I've written to Santander 5 times over the last 2 years asking them to update our CRFs as they are still showing a personal loan as outstanding with a balance of over £8000, and a bank account balance £200+DR.
Each time they have told they can't find the account, or don't have enough information. Furthermore, a week or so ago I disputed my record on Call Credit, and they've emailed back to say they had been in touch with Abbey who said they wouldn't allow my record to be changed.
What can I do? With the help of my father we are trying to get a mortgage and buy a house, but Santander are updating this loan every month showing it as a default.
Help Please!???!?

Hi BRSurvivor, have you seen fermi's sticky?
-- > Credit Reference File Clean Up Post Bankruptcy
Do send the appropriate letter to Santander........this is unacceptable and I understand your frustration.
Best wishes

Yes, I followed the thread. I guess I just need to write to the ICO now. So annoying.0

I'm glad you read it and I am so sorry that this has to be your next step...
Hope they sort it soon for you "If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride"

email ceo@santander.co.uk with a formal complaint explaining how they have been obstructive and unhelpful, summarising also the points in the cleanup letter, and that you now have no choice but to complain via the Financial Ombudsman and report them to the ICO for non-compliance with their responsibilities under the Data Protection Act.

Just want to say a quick thanks to fermi. The email to ceo@santander has done the trick. I emailed Thursday night, go a response Friday morning asking for phone number and convenient time to call, had a phone call within 2 hours. Initially the guy said I would need to provide the discharge certificates for myself and my wife, I argued the toss saying no other company and requested them, and it's a matter of public record etc. An hour later I received a call back saying they may be able to do it without, and then just before close of business Friday another call to say our records have been updated - and they have!
All this hassle, resolved in less than 24 hours. Thanks again.0 -

Funnily enough Iv had problems with Santander, I used the letter templates on here, after 7 weeks of phoning and arguing they have now send me a cheque for £60 compensation and say they will amend the file as satisfied as of the date of my discharge. I'm glad I have got somewhere with them! Is it right though that they can still put the defaults on during my BR?0

Sorry, letter states default date start of BR, satisfied end of BR. I guess this is right0

I am currently wrestling with Barclays to update my credit file. They closed the accounts over 3 years ago after my bankruptcy but they still show as active on my credit file with small unpaid overdrafts on them.
So frustrating!!!0
