What is a dual immersion cylinder?

The EPC done on my property years back recommended fan-assisted storage heaters as well as a 'dual immersion cylinder'. I presume this refers to the type of water cylinder but I'm not sure what this is exactly and what the best modern example would be.

Thanks in advance.

A dual immersion cylinder has 2 elements, one at the bottom for using with off peak electricity to heat a full tank of water cheaply and a short one at the top to heat a small amount of water on expensive electricity if necessary as a top up. The top element is usually wired to a switch marked "Boost".
  • Thanks. Does anyone know where I can buy one and which is the best model?
  • From 24 to 76 inches height and from 28 to 74 inches diameter holding 60 to 150 gallons of hot water - you might want to work out what will fit in a cupboard and then how much water you will need then ask how much they are.
