New driver car insurance
Hi folks,
My partner (26) just passed her driving test but when I contacted my insurance provider (CIS) for a quote to add a named driver I was told that I cannot add a driver with less than 2 year's driving experience.
Can anyone advise me if this is usual, and what my best option is for getting her insured? I have fully comp insurance and my policy still has 6 months to run, so it seems I'd have to pay a £50 cancellation fee if I wanted to change to another provider.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

This isn't unusual.
Either she waits till you renew or you take the hit and cancel and go elsewhere. Expect the full cost of cancelling to end up higher than £50.
If you do this you also lose out on getting ncd for the part year.0 -

It depends on your vehicle. Assuming it isnt an Aston Martin then it would be a little uncommon but there are plenty of insurers that arent too keen on newly passed drivers.
Either you take a hit and cancel mid term with the fees and increased rates that entails, you buy short term insurance for the times she needs to drive and deal with it in 6 months or simply she doesnt drive it for the next 6 months and deal then.
Have you done a new business quote online with CIS with her as a ND to ensure it does reject her?0
