Npower ruining credit file

...Can you automatically get entered into an agreement these days?...
Yes.
As the Man from Npower explained, they're known as 'deemed contracts'. It's a matter of statute; see Schedule 4 Utilities Act 2000.solentsusie wrote: »I think putting a smiley face at the end of the post adds insult to injury. Well it is a bit inappropriate ain't it? But if the OP "missed 1 payment" they missed one payment, and Npower can't be faulted for reporting to a CRA that they missed one payment, because that's exactly what happened.Tiredandemotonal wrote: »I'm in an odd position. The dreaded Buchanon clarke and wills rang to tell me I had a debt with eon. I have never used eon in the 20 plus years I gave lived here. I told them this. They rang again. I told them again. Can this affect my credit rating if they log the debt to me? I did not provide my birthdate or address.
They are fishing. You likely share a similar name with someone who does owe Eon a wad of cash. If someone named Simon Smith has done a runner owing money. DCAs will frequently contact every Simon Smith they can find in the hope that one of them is indeed the Simon Smith they are looking for.0 -
GingerBob, many thanks for you help.
I believe they got my information from the letting agents who (I think) as part of the process of letting a property forward these details on.
I've called, I've emailed but sense is not something you get from this company which as you've pointed out seems far too common.
The worst of it is I'm not entirely to blame for missing the bill but they won't hear of it. I got an estimated bill as I didn't send my figures and had 30 days to pay it. On the 28th day I sent my figures for which they generated a new bill but every time I logged in online to pay it said nothing was owed so I couldn't pay anything. Giving the figures had reset the estimated bill so I couldn't pay so it wasnt paid within 30 days. Beggars.
bills normaly state payment within 14 days, op if no deemed contract you would of had a house with no power. Think you have but a lot on yourself by not registering or giving reads, really its a good job your agency passed the details on.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
