Definitely sounds like they suspect something.Sugarboyjoe wrote: »We distinctly remember mislaying them inside the house.
I'm curious how you can distinctly remember mislaying them but not be able to find them?0 -

I could even put a time to it - it happened whilst watching football. The keys were left in the kitchen my friend (named driver) went back to pick them up - they had disappeared. Back window and door locked. There was another person in the house but couldn't for the life of me think why they would touch them.
If I could find the keys - this mess would be over!
Ps I had the same make and model of car (Ford Galaxy) stolen 7 months earlier - only had one key which I still had at the time0 -

Added to the circumstances of the current claim is almost certainly why the Insurers are refusing to cover the theft.
As advised make a complaint and then try your luck with the Ombudsman.0 -

You've got to admit that sounds a little suspect. The keys mysteriously go missing and then two weeks later the car goes missing. And only seven months after another had been stolen and you only had one key to give to insurers.
Was it the same insurer both times?
Regardless of their possible suspicions, if they are rejecting the claim purely because you hadn't changed the locks then its worth a review by the FOS.0 -
No it was a different insurer, and previous claim was in my wife's name0

I can understand why they have not paid out. Keys go missing and then the car does...
I remember seeing this thing on TV about a year ago, a bloke had a leased BM he had leased it on the basis of doing 10,000 miles a year but had done nearly 50,000 in 3 years. So he took his car somewhere and set it alight.
Insurance company caught him out because he still had the key and it proved he had used the key after the car was "stolen".
So by not having the key - someone else could have it meaning its very easy for them to steal the car and you have done nothing about it.
There is no harm in you making a complaint but I genuinely can not see them backing down on this.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
