Using underfloor heating

We bought a property with underfloor heating last December and had the most horrendously huge bills last winter. We got an Economy 7 meter installed, but haven't really been able to test it out as the heating has been off all summer. How do we set the timers for the underfloor heating to be most economical, and is Economy 7 the best tarif for us to be on ? Advice please before the cold weather sets in again.

Probably unlikely that underfloor heating will be economical on E7 as you will want the heating on during the peak day rate period. It is generally accepted that you need to use around 40% (but can vary) of your total electricity consumption during the off peak (2300-0700 ish) period.
