Where to buy Disney shares?

Hi all

Hope you can help. I want to buy my nephew a single share of Disney. I have looked at various websites that have been suggested in old posts on here. I tried oneshare.com but it doesn't look like its active anymore.

Has anyone recently bought gift stocks from a US website successfully? Any other options I could try?

Thanks

Disney shares are currently trading at $89.15p on the New York Stock exchange.

See this useful guide from HL - http://www.hl.co.uk/shares/buying-us-listed-shares
  • Oneshare seems to be working for me

how will your nephew know? - you won't get a certificate or anything - those are things of the past - it would just be showing it to him on a computer screen? might not be the 'best' of gifts.

You can request the certificate if you want it, but you'd have to pay the admin fee.

Looks like the site the OP (https://www.oneshare.com/stock/disney) was wanting to order from do send you a certificate, but their site is currently undergoing maintenance displaying the following:

The Oneshare Site is currently undergoing maintenance, and we cannot accept orders at this time. We are working on the issue. Please check back later.

  • iii says $89 per share which is £56, + £10 commission. I think that would be a fantastic present.

Does your nephew already have a share dealing account of some sort, such as a junior shares ISA? If so send his parents £66 and ask them to buy a single Disney share for him. If not then perhaps you could ask if they are willing to open one?

Better still, buy him VWRL at £43.90 giving him a slice of Disney, Apple, Microsoft, Google and all the forest friends
  • Thanks all for the advice. I know that buying one share is going to be a bit expensive, but I don't mind the costs as it is a unique gift. He does not have a junior shares ISA to my knowledge.

Thanks for the link the HL. I will look into it.

racing blue, thanks for the tip re VWRL, I will look into it.

gkerr4, I wasn't asking for advice on what would be a good present, that is for me to decide, but how I could buy a share of Disney. I am aware that certificates are redundant and was planning on knocking up my own one as a token so he has something to hang on his wall if I couldn't get one sent.

sorry - i didn't mean to sound like i did. Of course it is for you to decide. A certificate would have been a very good present - i know my daughters (7&10) would have liked it also.

    sorry.

Had a quick look for you regarding it being for a gift, its a USA site but you may still be able to buy from it - you get a nice certificate this way:
