Default on file from fraud

Hi all,
Bit of a complicated one, any advice would be fab.
My Mum committed fraud, of a small amount of a few hundred, about six years ago. She did this in my name. I found out by checking my credit file. She admitted what she did and paid off the debt.
Two years later sadly she passed away.
Six months after she had passed away I was contacted and confronted by debt collectors. She had done the same again and I hadn't noticed this time. Obviously because she had passed away and no one knew about the debt, it wasn't being paid. In fact as angry as I had would have been, if I knew about it I would have just paid it and let it slide. It's an awful thing to do to your daughter I accept that now but I couldn't have shopped her in, it was my mum after all.
I tried to fight it and not have to pay however because my mum had passed away and she has been quite clever in his fraudulent activities, for the sake of £350 and the stress it was causing me, I ended up just paying it off to get rid of it. It's made me very sad if I'm honest.
Anyways, I've recently checked my credit score and the account is down as a 'default'.
Me and my partner are saving for a mortgage and I'm very worried that this is going to go against us. I've very lucky I have an understanding partner, but I don't want this to affect him.
Many thanks in advance,
Sam

If you have linked credit files or do a joint application it will have some impact.
How old is the default? i.e. what is the listed "default date" on your file? And does the date seem accurate from what you know?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thank you so much for replying
The dates do seem to correspond, it said the account was opened in 2008, and that the account as closed exactly when I paid it off. it also says 'reported until April 2017' does that mean it will drop off by then?
Thanks again,

So that would mean the "default date" is in April 2011?
Defaulted accounts drop off 6 years from the "default date".
Undefaulted accounts drop off 6 years from the date you settle the account.
