Portable battery charger on flights

Hi,

Just wanted to check if anyone has taken a portable battery charger on a flight since this new ruling about having devices charged has come in?

We're going to America next month, so wanted to take the charger to recharge kids ipads/phones etc on the flights, but wasn't sure if this would be allowed.

Anyone done this recently?:beer:

I'm not sure if the OP is talking about the batteries that you charge up in advance and then use to charge other devices (like the Anker ones) or something that plugs into the mains. Bear in mind that most full service airlines on high-profile routes offer mains power at the seats (IME usually with a 3 pin US style socket) - check if the aircraft you're flying on will have these.

Either way, I can't see any issues with taking them onboard, although I haven't tried taking an Anker type battery into the cabin.

Yes, sorry I was talking about the charger you charge in advance. I didn't realise they had chargers on the planes, so I will definitely look into that.

I recently bought an EasyAcc portable charger (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00H9BEC8E) and it's a brilliant gadget for travelling. I haven't yet taken it on a plane but I don't see why it should be a problem. It's no different to charging your phone off a laptop.

I have taken a anker charger in hand luggage on several airlines without any problems

Flew from Manchester to Atlanta with Delta last week with my Romoss fully charged. No issues.

The Delta aircraft we too took and from the UK / US had seatback power too.

I flew back from the US last month with a Mophie juice pack (you can charge 2 things from it at a time) and had no problem. I flew Virgin PE both ways on a 747 but only the plane out had seat back charging points.

Devices have to be charged before flying now. Why would you need a charger ?
