did you delete the items from your shopping cart when you abandoned it?0

Thanks sheramber and that is a very good point for anyone to remember. Large numbers of people are checking prices on the web with no intention of buying. I looked at about 12 pet food sites that evening looking for the cheapest price and probably did not empty the basket on any of them but I cannot remember for sure.
When the discount code I had for this one did not work making it more expensive I abandoned it. I did not proceed to the payment section of the website where I would have selected the option to pay by PayPal.
Thanks for help0 -
Thinking about the last posts if I did leave the item in the basket when I abandoned it, and I am not sure, surely that does not give them the right to complete a transaction and then persist to process an order when I kept telling them I had not placed an order. I abandoned it when the discount code did not work making it more expensive and I did not proceed to the payment section of the website. Had I done so I would have selected the PayPal option. I did not know they had my credit card details from an old order.0

That technically is a different question but yes, it would be wrong for them to process an order based on an abandoned cart even if they were legitimately holding your card details. I am sure technically they could cover this off in the T&Cs both of your first actual order and also in the terms of use of the site but even then they'd not be on the strongest grounds.
Depending on their position with delivery fees/ return costs etc it could well be that they are genuinely trying to be helpful rather than purely money grabbing but it'd be more appropriate for them to be sending you an email advising that you abandoned the cart with an easy link back to it to continue the transaction if you wanted.0
