I didn't say you (personally) did not contribute. I said it's easy to forget when you (generic) do not contribute. Although I'm sure if you do contribute you are well aware of the tax/nat ins/pension etc. etc and so are aware that a gross of 77k between 2 people (and bearing in mind his wife does not actually earn 25k of that yet) does not mean 77k to live on. Lets not forget he is actually working for this money - not sitting at home on his backside and merely checking his bank account waiting for the tax credits to hit.
I am not suggesting the OP should get any sort of assistance - but then again I don't believe anyone should. If you are working and can't afford to feed/clothe/house yourself and your family without help from the state then you should find ways to support your life choices.0 -
Exactly and why ALL tax credits should be stopped. Perhaps if people had to actually pay for their families solely on the money they earned, they might make different life choices. Why should only those on middling incomes be targeted and expected to do the sums before starting a family?notanewuser wrote: »Isn't that the choice you make though? It's just a fact that someone working full time on minimum wage simply can't afford to support a family.0 -
Hi,
Having kids should not be reserved for middle England.
You should be able to have a child on minimum wage. Just paying tax is not the only benefit a worker has on the economy.
Just because someone may claim more in benefits then they pay back - in strict monetary terms does NOT mean they are a drain on the economy.
Refusing to work and having kids is another story.
