Booking and Transaction Fee Refund?

Hi folks, I hope you can help with a query.

Last year, I bought tickets to see Joan Rivers on her scheduled upcoming UK tour, at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, due to be held on 22nd October. I bought two tickets on my debit card at a total cost of £65.75 (two tickets at £30 each, a £4 booking fee and £1.75 for a transaction fee).

Obviously, following Joan's sad passing last week, the concert has been cancelled, and I have received a refund for the cost of the two tickets (£60), but NOT the booking and transaction fees.

I was just wondering, given the event isn't happening (for obvious reasons), shouldn't I be put back into the financial position that I would have been in, and also receive a refund of the transaction and booking fees?

Edit - I forgot to add that the tickets were bought from GlasgowLife.org.uk, who are the ticket agents for Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, and are an arms length company of Glasgow City Council.

Any advice/similar stories would be of help.

  • I am not sure on this one, I think they get away with it as a booking was made and a transfer was done, so you get charged, so Im pretty sue you only get the ticket price back.

I once paid £1 to put my bag in a cloakroom at a gig which was cancelled when the band took ill (so everyone was already there) and they wouldnt give me my bloody £1 back. Only had hold of it about 5 minutes. Furious. :P
