Prepayment meters in inherited, currently unoccupied property. Best tariff?
Options
I have recently inherited a property in which there is a BG prepayment meter and a Swalec prepayment meter. As the property is currently unoccupied, can anyone suggest a tariff that would be suitable? I am hoping to let the property after Christmas.

Ebico have a standing charge of 0p per day.
Be polite and warn your tenants, though, and advise them to switch again to a more suitable supplier once they move in.0 -
If its on a deemed tariff and the consumption is nil then no one should charge you a standing charge for gas.
However this is a very recent OFGEM ruling and as far as I'm aware no one is as yet complying (except those like Ebico who already have a nil standing charge). It'll probably take a few months to sort out but there maybe retrospective rebates.
Note due to legal precedent this change only impacts gas accounts.0 -
A quick look on the comp sites reveal that BG are quite high tariffs, but theres not a big difference between the cheapest, Ovo and BG.All prepays are top price on standard tariff.. Any new occupiers have the right to switch to a credit meter where much lower tariffs are available.0
