Advice please on high electricity rate

Hello, any advice would be much appreciated.
I phoned my electricity supplier this evening to enquire about my account balance, I've realised I'm paying a very high rate and when I raised this I was offered a rate of almost half the price! Im furious and confused - how could they have been able to charge me this high rate for the last 6 years when the much lower rate was available.
Is there anything I can do to claim any of it back?
Thanks

Can you post both rates? There were big differences a few years back but recently these differences have narrowed.

As to claiming any back no, you are on a standard tariff until YOU decide to pay via an alternative method or take an online deal/fix. Look on the bright side you are now more savvy and will benefit in the future.

This makes no sense. No discount rates are half of standard tariff-you might get a c. 7% saving overall.
And no you can't claim anything back because of your failure to check tariffs for 6 years.
Is this possibly a business tariff?
