DAB Radio advice.

My son has a birthday coming up and for the first time I can remember has actually asked for something specific.

He wants a DAB radio with WiFi access to internet stations and he also wants to be able pause and/or record.

They have a baby and when they need feeding or changing they need feeding or changing so he'd like to be able to pause the football and resume listening once the baby is sorted.

I have a Pure Evoke Flow with Internet access but it doesn't pause/record. I'm off to do some research but if anyone knows a DAB radio that fits the above criteria I'd be very greatful.

Thanks

    Thanks for the suggestion.

A great radio but unfortunately it doesn't have Internet access. My lad has a number of internet stations he listens to on his computer and he'd like access them via the radio too

A quick skate through the specs of the range of Roberts internet radios doesn't show any which can be Paused...

Looks like you can get Internet or Pause capabilities, but not both together.

But you might want to look at this post and reply, which talks about using the SD card...
  • Hello, best thing would be a Bose Wavesoundtouch (I have one) cd,am,fm, dab radio and wifi adapter too, they're about 650 though(ours was a present!)

US price $600; UK price £680.

No wonder some electronics manufacturers consider the UK to be Treasure Island!

    John,

I'm coming to the same conclusion. I've spoken to the lad and while both would be nice pause/record is more important than internet for when he's listening to the football.

When you take off VAT to put it on a par with US prices which don't not include taxes then the UK price is £567. Which means that you are doing better than the 1$ =£1 mentality that the majority of sellers work by, not just limited to the electronics side of things

For my sins, I follow Stoke City :o

I can listen to BBC R Stoke on FM fine
If I listen via t'internet, it cuts off at kick off time 'due to contractual reasons'

Hence we have never entertained 'internet radio'

Yes the pause rewind is for the football on DAB which is why it's more important, although, as a Forrest fan he might be better off avoiding the disappointment. :rotfl:

Internet radio is fantastic!!! it gives access to 10,000+ internet stations.

He currently has the ones he likes set up on his laptop. I find I listen to more internet stations than DAB on my WiFi enabled Pure radio as there tends to be few or no adverts due to them not knowing where in the world you are. :D

Also there are so many stations dedicated to a particular type of music whatever you like there's a station out there playing nothing but.

When exploring the possibilities I discovered a station playing only rousing patriotic Soviet era music of the sort you imagine they might have played in the tractor factories! If you've ever watched the film Hunt for Red October and remember the crew singing you'll know what I mean.

Then there was the Iranian Hip Hop station, yep, who's a thunk it! Or the station pumping out folk music from the Mongolian steppes!

The odd stuff aside there are some superb stations that are largely ad free. It's well worth a look, or should I say listen.

Well, if you listen to BBC R Stoke on DAB, you will have to listen to Crewe and *not* the mighty SCFC

I wouldn't want him getting NCFC rather than NFFC just coz he chose the wrong radio!!
