we have a warm air central heating system which also heats the hot water + 1 radiator in the ensuite extension. Yesterday we had a new hot water cylinder fitted. Since then, the hot water heats up nice & hot but the radiator doesn't get hot at all. We've bled the rad, no air in it. the plumber can't get back for a while, so does anyone have any experience of these systems to help us? there are pipes running up to the loft out of the cylinder which are nice & hot (can't trace where they go after that), no air locks when we run hot water, just no hot rad. Thanks if you can suggest what we can try.

Well we have a warm air system 'Johnson and starley' and big coincidence, we had the system serviced today.
1st , why are you worried , hoping the heating wont go on for a few weeks yet, time to get your plumber back .
I take it the pipes to the loft is for a new expansion tank??
Strange you have bleed the system , but no heat, did the plumber check system before leaving .0 -
We have the same system as you. We do need the rad on as my father in law who uses the bathroom is elderly & feels the cold. The plumber didn't check the rad - we were in a hurry as just had to bereavements & were dashing off to register deaths.
So the pipes which go into the loft, I'm guessing one runs through the loft to the ensuite, can't trace it though & as we've not been in this house long, don't really know what goes where.
I just can't work out what could be wrong as we've got hot water - worked fine before this, so what could he have done/forgotten to do?0 -
The plumber didn't check the rad
Then get him back , the rad is of course nothing to do with the warm air apart from the fact that the same boiler is heating up the water....which you have.
So the boiler is working correctly, and you have water in the rad.
But the rad water is cold.
Follow the rad pipes back to the cylinder.........or do the rad pipes go back to the boiler?
See I am guessing , sorry , I only have warm air. The extra heat in the bathroom is off a large elec towel rail .0 -
Its likely just airlocked. It will either sort itself out or there will have to be some intervention..Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Its likely just airlocked.
The rad has been bled , would his be possible if there was just an air lock?0 -
yes.................I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0
