Would having a Halifax basic account help me get a Halifax current account. Have a full current acc with another bank but would consider opening basic with halifax if say after a year of using the account was offered an upgrade etc.

Is there a reason why you can'y just open a full current account with Halifax?
I've had a basic Halifax account for over 10 years now and have never been offered an upgrade so I wouldn't open one purely in the hope that I might get a full account 12mths later.

No it would not.
They would offer you a proper current account now if you meet their criteria.0 -

I don't think I'd be brave enough to press the upgrade button. Did you get credit searched for the easy cash account?
Also could the fact I wrote the wrong address had an influence in me being rejected for the reward acc? I accidentally put down 25 instead of 20 on an address from 2.5 years ago and house "25" doesn't exist.0 -
I have a cashcard basic with the nationwide out of choice. The banks hate this card as they make no cash on it and that is just dandy with me. What is the big attraction of upgrading I just cannot see any benefit. It's a catch 22 the people who need an overdraft are the last people who should be taking one out. So apart from an OD what else do they offer.0

I'm not sure how this is relevant to a Halifax easycash account, why do banks hate your nationwide cashcard? What makes you think they make no cash on it? If you use your card in a Halifax or other cash machine not operated by nationwide, they then charge Nationwide a fee something like £0.61p for using it in their machine, hence they do make money on it.
As for what Halifax offer maybe you should check out their site and find out for yourself you may find one of their accounts offers a nice little incentive.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0
