If you submitted a proper appeal then they should be following their own policy in COP 26 and not asking you to pay it back.

Often people get confused between appeals and disputes - if you put in a dispute instead then they will keep asking for money.

    How did you appeal?

when I spoke to them today they said I was sent a appeal so I think I have appealed thought this was all sorted when I filed the form sorry panicking a little just don't have the money
  • I would go to citizens advice, tax credit were chasing me for £3500 which I didn't think was owed, they even passed it on to a debt collector whilst this was still going on. The citizens advice took on the case for me, contacted tax credits on my behalf and stopped the dca letters. 6 months later I received a letter from tax credits saying I didn't owe anything, in fact they owed me £200.
I don't think I would have reached the same out come if it were not for their help.
