Travel money - If scotland go independent will it effect the pound?

    This is the correct forum for a question about exchanging currency before going on holiday.

    People who wish to jump on this and offer opinions on the referendum could take the discussion to the Moneysavers' Arms (except that most of the opinions posted here are so ill-informed that it would be better for all concerned if they remained unshared).


    And this is neither! - The currency status within the UK will not change post 18th. All that could happen is a period of negotiation depending on the result of the referendum. This is already an established fact - not an opinion!

    But otherwise, I agree - there are a few right bams posting on this thread! :D

    No one can know for sure but my guess is that the pound will take a hit to some degree. There is huge uncertainty over how the break-up will be carried out (national debt, military, Scotland's future currency etc) which makes the pound a less attractive currency for investors.

    The count takes place overnight with the result expected breakfast time on 19th September.
