Refund on postage

Hi guys,

I'm after a little advice please. We bought a NAS unit (computer thing) from Amazon in June of this year. Last week it stopped working. We have to send it back to the manufacturer and we will not be reimbursed for sending it back. Is this correct?

I've had a quick google but I'm getting confused :)

Many thanks!

  • It could be correct depending on exactly who you bought it from.

If it was directly from Amazon and you are returning it to the manufacturer for repair under their warranty, then yes, they can ask you to pay postal costs if this is one of the warranty conditions.

If however, you purchased from the manufacturer who was selling on Amazon and you are using your Sale of goods act rights, then the manufacturer should be covering the cost of the return.

In the past I had to return a faulty NAS to Amazon; they shipped me a new NAS and told me to send the faulty one back in the pre-paid box and packaging the replacement came in.
