Door frame 20mm too short. Problem?

I've seen a front door on ebay for a good price, but its 20mm too short height wise and about 10mm short width ways. Is there a way of getting round this or is this door no good?

Thanks :)

If it's wood, you can add a bit of extra wood to the frames or the door, potentially. I'd expect a bargain and show whoever was fitting it before I was confident about it though!

  • Its a UPVC door if that makes it better or worse?

Worse. No can do. It needs to fit. You either need a different door or a frame to match the new one.

I think frame can be adjusted with extension pieces on the outside during fitting, but not the inside. You need the door to lock!

  • Ah well. I will continue the search. Thanks for the answers :) I might just have to suck it up and pay full price :(

So you are only looking about buying a door, not a door and frame.

If it is a framed door then it's easy with spacers, if not forget it.
I've bought several off ebay, they have always been door and frame mis-measures and are top value. Be patient they are always coming up.

I think it largely depends on how sensitive you are to draughts.

I've seen some doors a good 2 foot shorter than the door frame, although normally with a horse looking out through the gap.

Just re read your title and it's a door frame so I assume it's a door and frame, given that there is no problem using spacers as I suggested earlier.
