Help! Accidentally paid money into wrong account!

Hello
Brief outline:
Relative used internet banking to pay Asda Moneycard and accidentally paid Asda Mastercard.
She rang bank who have confirmed that Asda Mastercard have accepted the funds, even though she hasn't got an account with them. The reference number she used on the payment was her Asda Moneycard reference.
She rang Newday (the company who run Asda Mastercard and the people who have got her money) and she's been passed from pillar to post, nobody returns phonecalls etc. and they keep saying it's her error.
She rang financial ombudsman but they said they are unlikley to be able to help as she is not a customer with Newday, just that she has made a payment to them in error.
Now Newday want her to put everything in writing and it could take up to 8 weeks to sort it out (IF they can sort it). In the meantime, interest is accruing on the card she intended to pay off.
I know it's her error, but this has been going on since 25 August now and she is understandably stressed out as it's almost £2k that we are talking about.
Just wondered if anyone had any ideas/template letter we could use.
We have also contacted her bank who have said they will email the company but they don't seem that hopeful for a resolution.
Thanks.

I'm afraid that the advice she has received is correct. She should put everything in writing and hope that the customer who has got hold of her money is honest and returns it.0

thanks, but it's not a customer who has received the money.
She was supposed to pay Asda Money card and has accidentally paid Asda Mastercard (which is run by Newday Ltd), so I assume it is being held in a suspense account at as she does not have an account with them.0 -
You may find this may help you;

Plus it's Sygma Bank that run the Asda Credit Card not New Day.

hello - I'm not doubting that, this is the card she intended to make the payment (asda money card) to but she accidentally sent it to asda mastercard (not a money card) and this is the one which is run by newday, as you will see on the link http://newday.co.uk/lets-talk/cardsloans/ it shows that asda are on their list.0 -
Personally I don't get what the difference is between an Asda MasterCard or an Asda Moneycard.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0

If it is being held in a suspense account then the money should be returned to her fairly soon.toby_puppy wrote: »thanks, but it's not a customer who has received the money.
She was supposed to pay Asda Money card and has accidentally paid Asda Mastercard (which is run by Newday Ltd), so I assume it is being held in a suspense account at as she does not have an account with them.
However, if the account number she used corresponds to that of one of their customers then her funds will have been credited to that person's account. If that person does not choose to return the money then getting it back would not be easy.0 -
The account number she quoted as a reference is that of her own credit card account (her asda moneycard account number) but their bank details are different from the bank details for an asda mastercard, hence the error she has made a faster payment to asda mastercards bank instead of asda moneycards bank.
so in theory, there should be nobody with her account number at asda mastercard (newday)
I don't know why the two different types of card are dealt with by different firms.0 -

.
we thought that, but it is now a fortnight since she made the payment, seems a long time to wait0
