Amount of PPI has changed ?

I received a letter last month saying that my PPI complaint had been upheld and due to a lack of files held by the bank, I would be awarded the ' average compensatory payment ' of £2,800. I sent the acceptance off but only had £990 paid into my account ? I've queried it today and they say that they have decided that I can only have this amount despite sending me the former letter. Can they do that ?

If it was due to an error, then you do not have any right to benefit from an error.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). They must have explained why they did this? Was the original calculation an error? Or have they offset against arrears or defaulted debt?0

The advisor could not tell me on the phone so I await a letter which should hopefully have the details ?
Just trying to work out the reasons why they would lower the sum ? Certainly no arrears or defaulted debt ?0 -
You'll have to wait for the letter…0

Lorraine,
I am about to do a claim against Lloyds.
My loans go bak to late 80's early 90's.
I am doubting if they would have this on file.
May I ask by what you mean by lack of paperwork?.0
