Yes, it's what I do... I also prefer to search for cars with a reasonable mileage, a 2007 car with 98,000 for £2000 maybe available, but its not a car I would want to buy, likewise, the OP's car was a 2007 with various issues for £2000...0 -

owned from new, 170 thousand on the clock and not a single problem
people getting excited about the 800 pound bill - i had a quote for 950 from vw to fix a problem and it turned out to be a faulty sensor that cost me 60 quid and i fitted it myself0 -
Got to say the Peugeot/Citroen vans we've had over the past decade have been the best we've bought....by far!0
