Boiler insurance

Without going into it all, I need to know if anyone knows how an insurance company can work out how much my old boiler was worth! Please can anyone help? :think:

Old boiler has been serviced by AA for last 4 years. Came out to a leak and had to condemn it due to a leak that had corroded the chassis. Had to have new boiler fitted. AA have decided to work out how much our old boiler would have been worth and give us that much back. Boiler had been serviced only 2 months before they condemned it and there were no problems then.0

the leak they came out to was not related to the one that had caused the corrosion.0
