Help please, unfair defaults on my account.

Hi all,
After recently accessing my credit file i noticed several defaults placed on my account.
I had paid a bill of £320 to a company called BCW which was a settlement figure regarding my 02 account then a year later another company Lowellgroup came calling for another £67 regarding the closed account.
I told them it was a settlement with the previous company.
long story short I was unable to prove it was a settlement figure while the dispute was going on they placed defaults on my credit file.
I have now with a bit persistence obtained a copy of email and letter stating that the £320 was settlement figure and no further action should have ever took place.
Ive contacted the company asking them to be removed, but they emailed me today saying they have contacted 02 and they usually reply within 45 days If not longer.
where do I stand?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated 45 days seems an awful long time?

The debt would not have gone to BCW in the first place if you hadn't defaulted on the account with O2, so seems you were just lucky you didn't see the defaults before you did. So can't see you having any luck. Sorry.Still rolling rolling rolling...... <

Is there just one default showing on your credit file?
And is that in the name of lowell?
is the default date on your file correct?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

the default has been placed on my account after I had paid the £320 to BCW.
Yes its in the name of Lowell.
Yes the default date is placed on the account
21/02/2013 yet the account was settled on the 31/01/20130 -
In which case your dispute is the date of the default, not that it shows.
Being passed to a debt collector is in itself evidence that you defaulted on the payments to the original creditor.
The default date should be no later than when BWC first took over the debt from the original creditor.
Lowell can have the entry in their name, as long as the default date is correct and as long as it shows that as satisfied or partially satisfied (if £320 was a reduced settlement).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

Ok well either way I ended up paying the balance to Lowell.
But the default was placed on the account by a different company and after the settlement was reached so surely lowell placing this my account is incorrect?0 -
It is incorrectly dated, but not incorrect to show.
When a debt is sold quite often the previous owner removes their entry and the new creditor replaces it with an entry in their name (but must keep all the details the same).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
