beading for bottom of pedestal hand basin

I hope someone can help.

Is there anything that can be fitted to the bottom of a pedestal hand basin to prevent water ruining the vinyl flooring?

  • Hi didn't want to read and run, and wasn't sure what you meant. Where does the water come from?
Did you meant to stop water from running down the pedestal onto the floor, or to mop up spills rather than them soaking into the vinyl floor (i.e. a toilet pedestal mat)?
Whoops there goes another year, there goes another pint of

    Thanks for all your replies.

The reason I put 'beading' in the heading was because the vinyl flooring has already suffered from the affect of water drips (it catches under the rim of the sink (am onto it now !) so really wanted something to prevent and hide the damage.

Silicone would be fine but would need a lot to hide damage and wouldn't look good.

Will have to look up mastic.

Unfortunately no room for a mat (hate them anyway!)

Silicone and Mastic - are the same thing, dont get the low modulous or acrylic version though as water will affect it. Sanitary Silicone / Mastic is what you need for it to be water resistant either clear or white.

You said originally it was to stop damage not to hide some that's already there. If there is damage already, to what extent is it?

Try one of these. I use them occassionally and they hide a multitude of sins. Its a sealing strip, part of which attaches to the floor, part to the pedestal. Very sticky and gives a neat finish.

Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
