Where to buy good quality cheap ink cartridges

I have an Epson SX535WD printer - can someone suggest a good place to buy cheap cartridges which are of a good quality?

A set of Epson originals is around £40, which is madness given how little time these last.

On Ebay I bought five compatible sets for £9, so about £2 a set! These work for a bit, but the printer often rejects them and I am forever having to clean the heads to get the printer to print properly.

I found a company called Cartridge Money which sells compatible sets for £14. That feels a lot to pay considering the Ebay prices. If that's the going rate fair enough, but I thought I would ask on here.

See if there is a CISS (Continuous Ink Supply System) kit made for it, I paid £42 for a 6 ink kit for my R285 back in 2009 and haven't had any issues at all since installing it.

The only thing I will say is do NOT accept any BIOS updates for the printer as that may well stop a 3rd party kit from working correctly.

Thanks for the responses, I will take a look at the companies suggested.
  • As mentioned above, make sure you have automatic updates turned off in your printer software -Epson (and others I believe) update the rpinter firmware occasionally so compatible cartridges are no longer recognised - happened to me a while ago with my WF-3520 AIO printer - I'd been happily using compatibles for almost a year since I bought it, allowed an update to be installed, the installed cartridges (compatibles that had been working fine until the firmware update) no longer worked, ended up having to buy genuine cartridges to get the printer working again - OUCH! Found Ebuyer was the cheapest place to buy genuines (unless you get lucky on eBay). Also via Google I found one supplier of compatibles that guaranteed their cartridges would work (I believe they refill genuines and re-set the chips) but as the firmware update was recent they were not certain they could supply until they had recent empties to refill. Can't remember the name of the supplier, their cartridges were more expensive than eBay but still loads cheaper than Epson. Haven't tried them you - don't do much printing so still have genuines to use.
  • Just ordered from Carmen's recommendation but via their ebay shop as they were cheaper. Hope they work. Will post result when tried.
  • Chris, how do I ensure automatic updates for my Epson is turned off? I'm not very techy! have a Windows 7 laptop. TIA.
