Black Horse Finance PPI claim

Hi all,
Hoping for some assistance (or guidance) regarding my PPI claim.
I have tried to claim back PPI originally through Black Horse Finance for a motorcycle loan I took out in 2006. I filled out the form they provide on their website, and sent it off with relevant documentation.
A week or so later, I received a letter back from them in which they stated that as I did not take out the PPI directly with them, and it was sold to me through Orwell Motorcycles so I need to pursue the claim with them, and they would pass my details on.
Now as this is the first claim I have had to pursue with any effort on my own part (I had a successful claim with CPP) is this normal procedure? I also sent an email to Orwells stating what Black Horse Finance had told me, and provided all the details again.
I'm a couple of weeks down the line from sending that mail and I have not heard from them. What would be best to do now? Should I write them a letter as well?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you!

Can you see if the Email has been read or not.
I think I would just give them a ring first to see if they have received it.
If not, start the whole ball rolling again.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

In which case, I think I'll give them a call tomorrow. I mainly asked as I have yet to see (or find) anyone in a similar position where the main lender has shirked them off to the retailer, I wasn't sure if that was normal practice. Thank you for the advice!0 -
You would deal wit h the company who sold you the PPI....
(so sold to you by and not sold to you 'through' )make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Any mis-selling complaint should go to Orwell Motorcycles as they sold you the PPI. The insurance provider has no liability because they did not (mis)sell you anything.mammoth200 wrote: »I received a letter back from them in which they stated that as I did not take out the PPI directly with them, and it was sold to me through Orwell Motorcycles so I need to pursue the claim with them
I'd make the complaint formally and in writing if I were you. No need to mention Black Horse. If they do not respond within eight weeks you can refer your complaint to the Ombudsman.
What mis-selling reasons have you given as your complaint?
You haven't been "shirked off", you have complained to the wrong company. Only the retailer can (mis)sell.mammoth200 wrote: »I have yet to see (or find) anyone in a similar position where the main lender has shirked them off to the retailer0 -

Thank you for that, I'm vastly unfamiliar with any of these processes and I needed the clarification! I'll get a letter written up and sent off and wait to hear back, hopefully in less than 8 weeks!
The mis-selling was a pressure sale, the salesman told me it would potentially affect my credit rating if I didn't take it out, I was young and naive at the time so I accepted it.0 -
A weak, "hearsay" complaint which reads as if you copied it from a template. Most successful complaints are verifiable and (preferably) written in your own words.mammoth200 wrote: »The mis-selling was a pressure sale, the salesman told me it would potentially affect my credit rating if I didn't take it out, I was young and naive at the time so I accepted it.
Please don't use the hackneyed "young & naive" phrase, it will have been seen over and over.
At least it will be going to the correct company this time.:)0 -

I remember the meeting reasonably well, and unfortunately that is a pretty accurate summation of what happened, give or take. I'll make sure to write something more eloquent in my letter.0 -
Good luck..:)mammoth200 wrote: »I'll make sure to write something more eloquent in my letter.0
