Debt Recovery Plus Ltd

Hi Newbie here, I have received three or four letters from Debt Recovery Plus Ltd (DRP) signed by their Litigation Manager, Anne Stone. This relates to a Parking Eye fine which I only received one letter about back in March this year stating I had parked illegally at a Hospital site in Newcastle Upon Tyne, now to the best of my knowledge there is a Blue Parking Badge always on display of dashboard of vehicle.

This letter received today from DRP states they have spoken to the creditor (Parking Eye), and advised them to accept a reduced sum to demonstrate to the court a willingness to settle the matter quickly. Had to try not to laugh as they now want £96 instead of £120 before the 18/9/2014. What a strange and random figure, 96 why not £90 or £95, a more rounded off sum?.

Anyway, I have read posts about Parking Eye fines on Hospital sites since I received my initial letter back in March this year.

Am I correct in believing I should just ignore these DRP letters or not? I welcome any straight forward advice please.
It`s all very confusing
Kind regards

Please don't ignore, but read the newbie threads.

debt collectors and their letters are dealt with in post #4 of the NEWBIES sticky thread

as its private land no illegal act has happened at all

they arent fines , they are invoices

try to get the trust or PALS to cancel the charges, due to the fact PE take tens of thousands of people to court each year

    IGNORE DRP
  • Hi RedX, thanks for your post/advice. The trust does not get involved as it states it has no influence over parking eye actions.

You advise to ignore DRP in my situation, Im worried in case they do take me to court and this affects my credit in future.

PS I have not corresponded with Parking Eye or DRP in any way, verbal or written.

Finally how do I view post no4 NEWBIES sticky thread??

You really have not grasped this, I would bet £100 that Parking Eye never said you parked illegally as you did not!
It's NOT a fine, the hospital engage Parking Eye so of course they can get it cancelled the tail does not wag the dog.
Debt Recovery Plus cannot take you to court (though Parking Eye can), and they will not have spoken to Parking eye DR+ are full of threats and bullying tactics.
PE and DR+ only want as much money out of you as they can get, they will do anything to frighten you into paying up.
Follow the advice on here as you have been advised.

the NEWBIES sticky thread is at the top of this forum, above your thread, please read it (it also tells you in my signature too)

if you do not appeal to PE, its almost certain that you will become one of the thirty thousand a year they are taking to court, whether you like it or not

and please dont tell me that the trust are not liable, they are jointly liable as they employed the PPC, which Jeremy Hunt clearly stated in his recent clarifications on this matter , so write to your MP (like I did)
  • Hi all

I am pleased to feedback after reading posts about Parking Eye Fine (Hospital Car Park) and Debt Recovery Pl=s - I contacted the Hospital in question today and have been informed by them the fine will no longer be pursued. This will be confirmed in writing by the Car Park manager at the hospital.

    This is a great result with just a phone call I have got rid of the worry;
NB at no time during telephone conversation did I identify the driver, I referred to "driver of the vehicle".

A BIG thank you to those who offered help.

That's great - now next time DO NOT IGNORE A FAKE PCN! We win at POPLA appeal stage against PE every time - Court would have been much harder and more stressful for you!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
