I think in retrospect I worded my original post poorly as to whether the floor was fit for purpose, it was more a consideration of whether we should have been told that the model was discontinued when sold to us (which it seems it didn't need to).

Either way I appreciate the advice.

I totally see why you're annoyed. My friend did a similar thing (twice) once with some sort of pebbles for his wedding centrepieces, ended up with two different types, and then again with gravel in his garden, he has a nice patchwork affect now! Clearly he has bad luck with rocks. I think the gravel was just a 'different batch' rather than a new product.

From reading on here and my friend and dads experiences I think the best bet is always buy too much(checking the return policies) rather than buying 'just enough' and needing to buy extra as the chances of it matching can be low with a lot of products.

Your friend's problems sound very similar sadly. The main issue was that I'd bought the floor in advance of some works on my flat so once that was all finished and we were ready to actually lay it in the damaged area the 28 days return period had passed. We've ended up having to start again and re-do the whole room so I'm now left with 12m2 of old stuff I didn't want...

Oh well, hopefully we can sell it on and I'll put it down to experience.

You might be able to sell it on ... to somebody who didn't buy enough or needs to patch theirs up ..... it's a long shot, but if you can include the full name, description, part number etc then people might be googling for some.

12m2 is reasonable amount for a small room. Stick it on EBay/Gumtree and see what happens.
