For £100 do you not have a family member who can clear this for you, and at least get this unpleasant character off your case.0

Yes, it really does seem an awful fuss over a trifling amount.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -
It's not trifling to a lot of people. A sudden £100 bill would not cripple me, but would certainly affect my finances for the next month or so.

OK. SorryI used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -
Just pay the bill, what she did was wrong but it's in essence your fault entirely for even thinking about spending £1 a day on an evening paper when you can barely afford to live.0

Once again the NDL guy posts a load of drivel - even the Harassment section he posts isn't relevant here.
I do agree there may be a DPA breach although I seriously doubt as a newsagent they will be registered so wonder what the penalty/offence is.
However - hypothetically, what's the difference between posting the notice of default locally (via big green signs) or on a Credit Reference Agency as long as it is factually correct.0 -

Is your credit file available to your next door neighbour or any other tom !!!!!! or harry, or is access to this information regulated?0 -
If every thread was controlled and restricted to only discussing the question asked or issue raised these forums would be much smaller and less useful.
Sometimes (and I wouldn't necessarily include my earlier response in this) a poster needs to be faced up with an underlying issue that they have not and/or do not want to address.
In this case it maybe helps the OP to realise that "I thought someone else was paying" does not sound a convincing excuse in their circumstances.
I do agree with this a bit, particularly the bit I have underlined, but I think that the newsagent has to take responsibility for letting the bill escalate to that much!
As the posts below (and several others) have said...Haven't read all the thread, but am I the only one who thinks it's wacky that the paper shop let the bill run up so high! Sounds like a year's worth!Mylo_The_Moggy wrote: »I really can't believe the newsagent actually let the debt get so out of control.
By rights, if papers hadn't been paid for then surely they would've stopped delivering well before it spiralled to this stage.
I think newsagent has made a massive mistake in not stopping this sooner & is now trying to turn the tables on OP.
And embarrasing OP like that? Well that just beggars belief IMO......(•_•)

But is it really regulated ? What's to stop me from getting a Consumer Credit License (actually I do have one) and then signing up to use Experian's services.0
