Transferring money (GBP) to Bermuda

Hi - new user here, so apologies if this question has been asked before (I couldn't find it via search).

I've recently moved to Bermuda for a work assignment likely to be 3+ years. I want to transfer most of my GBP in UK account to local USD account. I could use the global transfer facility of my High Street bank (who I also bank with here), but have a feeling that I'll get gouged on the exchange rate offered.

Has anyone used a more efficient way of transferring GBP onto the island?

Google currency brokers. And have a browse through the many previous threads on the subject on here for recommendations (I've never used one myself so can't say whether one is better than another).

Thanks for the reply. Was actually hoping to hear from someone who'd gone through the process of transferring a lump sum to Bermuda specifically, but it looks like perhaps that's not a common transaction (I certainly can't see any threads referencing it). Thanks again.
