New Door Installation

I wondered if anyone could please recommend nationwide/London-based companies that install house doors, both internal and external?

It depends what material. Upvc door companies don't normally supply internal timber doors.

If you're looking for timber internal and external doors, there are plenty of choices. Howdens, Magnets, B & Q
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.
  • I've managed to find some ideas for internal doors and getting quotes. I am also looking for an external door, something which is stronger and more secure.

Could anyone please recommend any companies they have ordered from and had a good experience? thanks.

    As per my first post:

What type of external door are you looking for? Upvc? Steel? Composite? Timber?

Narrowing your options down might get you a response.

I always say internal doors are a dubious area. The majority are sold on style, and not on substance. There is an enormous amount of imported poor quality doors. Many are sold through websites where people have no idea what they are buying - they cannot be viewed before purchase.

My recommendation would be Jeldwen or Premdor - both UK companies with a track record of manufacture and customer service. JB Kind are a UK company, likewise XL Joinery. These products can be viewed at builders merchants, and would be what the building industry would tend to buy. If you buy these through B&Q then fine, but as a rule I suggest you avoid the DIY shed doors.

I have just had fitted a number of XL Joinery internal doors. The quality of todays doors is dire - were it 25 years ago these doors would have been condemned and sold as rejects, or seconds, or sent into the DIY stores. In 2014 these doors are considered acceptable!

I am looking for a composite front door myself to replace the existing pvc door. I have checked with 2 local companies with one quote for £1150 and the other Solidor for £1550. However getting one from Yale Door for £1100 with 12 months 0% finance option.

Just wondering if any one has had recent experience of Yale Door?

I don't know which door type. I am looking for a door which is stronger and more secure. I was after getting some advice from the door supplier. Having read some stuff online, maybe steel or composite would be suitable.

I am shocked by the prices you quote.

In the local advertising books that get pushed through the letter box there have been adverts for composite front doors. To supply and fit the door and frame the prices were around £749-£799. I have not researched the brands, nor do I have the names to hand. But the bottom line is most composite doors are similar, amd most people could not tell a good one from a less good one.
