I own my current car - 1ltr 56 plate corsa.
Car insurance cost with esure - £560 per year.
I have a leased renault captur s media 1.5ltr diesel on order.
Car insurance cost with esure - £540 per year.
Its £20 less for a leased car with a 1.5ltr engine.
Im not complaining but it seems a bit strange.
Does anyone know if they would charge to transfer the policy from one vehicle to the other after being with them a month and if so how much? theyre closed till monday otherwise I would call.

Yes they will probably charge but their website is elusive on applicable charges.
Did you declare that you are not the owner?0 -
It asks who the owner is and who the registered keeper is as separate questions.
So I answered lease company and then me.
esure were not the cheapest for my current car, they were about £200 more than the cheapest but they were for the lease car. For the sake of a month, if their charges for switching are not extortionate I may as well stick with them for the whole thing to (hopefully) keep things simple.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Will you be the registered keeper? I thought this would be the lease company.

Isnt the registered keeper the person that basically looks after the car?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. The registered keeper is the person named on the V5C. Will that be you or the lease company?0

No idea. First time I have leased and only the second car I will have "owned".

That'd be the keeper, the Registered Keeper is the person named on the V5c and normally would be the lease company.
Some websites are a bit funny with lease companies when doing insurance quotes but if you speak to them on the phone they are much more amenable.
When I was costing my change in vehicle and was considering leasing I did quotes online and my existing insurer of the time, Admiral, declined to quote online because of it being a lease but when I spoke to them on the phone they were happy to do it with no change in premium.
As to the price difference, at ~8 years newer its probably got better security and safety features. And on the flipside, corsa's are probably more heavily owned by teen drivers who have a tendency to crash them where as a Captur isnt and so that will reduce premiums0 -
Getting a car is so complicated!
