Okay So I received a parking charge notice ... Not a penalty charge notice form LPS. I wont say the time or date but basically we bought a ticket (as we always do everywhere we go), went and had some food at the pier and admittedly time got away with us a bit and as we got back we saw the parking 'officer' taking a photo of our numberplate, we were no more than about 10 mins late. I was driving the car, but it belongs to someone who was with me.
I've seen your sticky thread but want to know whether LPS count the same as NCP, or whether we should wait for the notice in the post. They want 85 quid... or 50 if paid in 14 days. Its extortionate and begrudge paying it for such a simple error in timekeeping, also we can barely afford the charge. Has anyone had any experience of LPS in this area or has anyone been taken to court by them?

No you are fine to wait for the NTK and appeal as per newbie thread.
In fact it will be interesting to see their NTK as they are a lesser known company when it does arrive. Just incase it is a non compliant one!
LPS do not crop up often. But I don't think there are anything unusual about them as a PPC except like all PPCs they are scam bugs.
As for court, you won't be getting that far if you follow the advice as per newbie thread so don't worry about that.Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. Click on words Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. Newbie thread is the first post. Blue New Thread button is just above it to left.0 -

Excellent. Thanks Dee. I'll endevour to keep the process updated to ensure that others in a similar situation with LPS can see what is going on.0 -
Did you park by the big apple ? If you did the signage there is crap and I've complained to the bpa about that. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

No, we parked down the bottom, right by the pier. We technically are at fault, we overstayed our ticket. But the charge is extortionate and I won't pay it without a fight. Annoyingly the pier cafe will refund parking tickets bought anyway if you buy food, which we did, should have just paid for the 2 hours anyway, wouldn't have cost us any more.0

Just wait for the notice to keeper to arrive then appeal using the wording in the newbies sticky thread, this fight back method will either see it cancelled straight away or they reject and you use popla to get it cancelled . All again explained in the newbies threadWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.

That will help at POPLA stage then, because the keeper (who is the one to appeal, not you!) can show there was no initial loss. For now, wait for the NTK in the post next month and if you can, get some pics of the signage wording - and parts of the car park and entrance where they may be a lack of signs.superspeedywheels wrote: »No, we parked down the bottom, right by the pier. DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Awesome. Thanks guys. I've kept my receipts from the cafe, the parking ticket we bought and the parking notice. Hopefully this will be over without too much fuss. Just have to get the owner of the car to hold their nerve too.0
