British Airways - Retain Executive Club Status?

I remember that BA came out with some news about a year ago or so, telling executive club members that even if they don't reach the certain amount of Tier points - they would still retain their executive club status.
Does anyone have link to that information?
I spoke to a BA agent on the phone trying to find out why my status was downgraded from Silver to Bronze if they said the status would remain back then ... but I cannot find this supportive evidence of them saying that you would keep your status ...
Anyone by any chance has links to that info?

I can't remember such an announcement and can't understand why they would do so. I'm a regular on the BAEC Flyertalk forum (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/british-airways-executive-club-446/) and I'm sure I would have noticed discussion of it. You could try asking there.
A few years ago BA did renew a lot of members (including me) who hadn't got enough points in compensation for the disruption caused by the eruption of Mount Unpronounceable in Iceland and the crew strikes. Usually they are very strict about renewal deadlines but have been known to give people temporary extensions of a few weeks if you ask nicely and have a good excuse.0 -
Thanks for your help Dosh ... I'm sure it was somewhere but just like the agent on the phone no one recalls it ... I feel like as if I was having a dream although I'm more than certain it was there ... too bad I cannot find this info neither.0

I think that what you saw was the news about BA changing the Executive club to include "Lifetime tier points".

Tier points that are accrued for club status automatically drop off at the end of each collection year but this doesn't happen with lifetime tier points. They keep accruing as long as you stay a member of the Executive club.
Once you reach the required level of 35,000 points you get gold membership for as long as you are a club member.
To be honest, it's really a bit of a marketing ploy as so few people will actually get to reach the required level. The only ones who will benefit from it are people who fly dozens of times per year in business or first class.
I joined the Executive club in 2010, fly long haul about 15 to 20 times per year (in a mixture of economy and premium economy) and reach silver status each year.
My current lifetime tier point level is 3600. At my current rate of collection, I will have to take the same number of flights every year for about another 30 years before I get the lifetime gold.0 -
At current rates I'll be 162 before I reach lifetime Gold!0

YES! So that was the information ... gosh, I'm so good at not reading the stuff properly ... which explains why I got such a low mark for the T320 with the OU (Grade 3) but luckily doing much better with exams (Grade 2 with B201) lol.... :rotfl:

Well, as I'll only be about 80, it will be my pleasure to help you to your upgraded seat on the aircraft!0 -

I've just worked out I'll be 147. If we are both still flying at those ages then we'll certainly deserve the status.
If they did a Lifetime Silver for around 10,000 then that might be achievable.0 -
I have been a member since 1995, did go through a spell of flying to Australia RTW 3 times a year for a few years and lots of internal flights and was Gold for several years. I currently have 6500 lifetime points, and rarely fly with them now, so I fear my chances of getting lifetime are nil..0
