Help with Direct Payments, Edinburgh

Hi all,
Does anyone know what the limit is for savings before you have to contribute to your support and how much your allowed to have before you become ineligible for funding at all?
I'm not sure if this is something each council decides or whether it's the same for everyone. If it's regional, does anyone know what the limit is for Edinburgh?
If no one can help, can you point me towards anyone who I could ask? I would go to CAB, but I have problems going out and using the phone and they don't offer advice via email in Scotland.
Thank you

Do you mean direct payments, or payments towards residential care? this link might help in either case, including an explanation of how Edinburgh do the financial assessment for residential care.0

Thanks so much for your replies. Following the link eventually lead me to what I think is the correct page on the council's website.
It looks like, if anyone else needs to know, you're allowed to have £10,000 before you need to start contributing, and £26,000 before you pay for care yourself in it's entirety.
However, it looks a wee bit more complicated than that as they give you a full financial assessment as well; they see what you have coming in and going out, and count some things and not others... I'm going to have to trawl through it all when I'm well enough to be able to take it all in and make sense of it.
Thanks again for your input, much appreciated

This link may be more useful for direct payments if that's what you're interested in than the one in my post above, which is a bit more roundabout to get to the direct payments.0

my council dont start tapering funding until savings reach £14,250 and funding doesnt stop until savings reach £50k.
for people without savings, they only take a maximum of60% of low AA/ middle DLA regardless of weekly income.income (£35.39 a week)

It is based on both savings and income.
You can offset disability related expenditure in England unsure what they do in Scotland. I would ask them for their charging policy document so you understand what criteria is used before financial assessment.
I didnt realise they charged for home care in Scotland thought it was free but only for over 65's and terminally ill according to Edingburgh website.
It makes no difference to charging whether its a DP or direct services being provided.
Here in England/Wales we have a document called fairer charging which all authorities have to work within.
Specifically certain benefits are not counted as income like mobility component.
There are set figures based on age etc of income they cannot take someone below plus 25%.Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy - Anne Frank :A0
