Well it certainly was a non response, but it was clearly an issue to the op, and many other lidl shopper too I expect.marliepanda wrote: »Hence why I asked what exactly did they want the response to say?
No you didn't.marliepanda wrote: »Prices do go up and down (yes usually up) and that is allowed.
It comes down to whether it is a genuine price. As they have, by your own reports, been for sale at £4.49 for at least 2 weeks I think they could probably be ok in claiming it is a genuine price, as it is only 50p more than the other price.
If they put the sign up to £7.99 and were claiming they were £3.99 half price, then there would be an issue as that would not be a 'genuine' price as they would not expect to sell them at £7.990 -
Having monitored the situation I can safely report Lidl have stopped being silly with their chicken prices and left them be at £3.99 for some time now... not that I've bought any since!0

You claimed you wouldn't be shopping at Lidl any longer - I assume you've not been going in just to check the price of chicken?0 -
I think it's good to complain, after all that's what this site is all about. The problem is all the supermarkets play silly games with pricing. The market is so competitive they're all fighting for survival. Lidl's probably were testing the market response to see if the product would sell at the higher price and found out they sold more at the lower price.“Learn from the mistakes of others. isnt this what supermarkets are all doing thse days. They increase the price of an item for about a month and then reduce it back to the original price and stick a big badge on the shelf to make it look like a miracle price reduction0

Aldi have given their premium jam a new shaped jar and raised the price to 99p from 69p, bit of a leap but still by far the best jam out there0

Not sure what the op is expecting to happen really. As I said they're successful so hardly need the op's advice on how to run themselves. I think the response was a nicely worded email basically saying they plan to take no action on the op's complaint.
Bet Tesco thought the same at one time...0 -

A month? You'd be lucky for the local Co-op's that are about for it to be increased for more than a day.
Like a large share bag of crisps, let's say £1.50, then they do buy one get one half price, or something like that, by increasing the price of a single bag to something like £2.89 (meaning if you don't want two bags, you're being ripped off for a single) - or you're just being plain ripped off in the first place.
The ups and downs in Co-op's pricing is sometimes ludicrous and lot, LOT less subtle than bigger supermarket chains, very expensive if it's on "offer", cheaper when it's not.Professional Data Monkey
