Whereabouts in the country are you sweetheart? If you are anywhere near me I would like to help you out as I may be a bit broke but I do have food in the cupboard and luckily no kids to feed.

Also I would be sorely tempted to 'sit in' at social services and the benefits offices until help is given.
Im in suffolk/norfolk boarder. .its very kind of u to offer help just seems unlikely we are close enough but thank u so much for the offer xx

As a single working mum unless you were earning an absolute fortune you will have child tax/working tax credits, these payments will carry on I would use these for food and immediate needs, do not worry at this stage about outstanding bills these can be paid when your claim (which will be backdated) comes through. Ring the child credits office and update your claim, the payments should carry on and not stop. You will also still get child benefit, when is this due? as you are now unemployed you can ask for this to be paid weekly.

For now, you just need to get through today. I think you're going to have to pluck up courage to ask someone to help with cooking something, even if its just for today.
And to top up, how about a spot of foraging? It's the time of year for apples, plums and blackberries. Not a meal on their own, but enough to fill a bit of a gap.
The only other thing I can think of is to phone the social services duty team directly and telling them you have 3 small children, nothing to give them, and no way of cooking. That way it may speed up the help so you get it before Thursday.
Edit - if your neighbour is similar to my nan, she'd have wanted to help and been glad of the company. The only downside being that she wouldn't have had a microwave.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

What exactly do you have in the cupboards? post this on the old style board people there are great and will come up with some meals you can make from it.

How old are your children? will some of them get fed at school? you did say you have 3 year olds, at that age they will still be under the health visitor, contact them they will be able to issue a food bank voucher.

I don't mean to sound harsh but it really isn't a good idea to encourage begging posts on here.
