Acer Laptop Warranty Problem
Hoffages
I purchased an Acer laptop from Amazon in July 2013. In May 2014 I had the laptop repaired by Acer, under the 1 year warranty because of a faulty power socket. This fault has now started to occur again. I've spoken to Acer and they want to charge me £55 just to look at the laptop as it is now out of warranty and they only offer a 90 day warranty on any repair work. I think this is unreasonable as, in my eyes, the repair was clearly not up to standard and I would like them to repair my laptop free of charge as a result, something they refused to do when I contacted them. I've got an address to send a formal complaint e-mail to but, before doing so, I just wanted to check exactly what my rights are. Does the sale of goods/services act apply to warranty repairs? Or is there anything I should be looking at instead?
Thanks for your help.

Contact Amazon, you don't have to and shouldn't deal with Acer.

And also bear in mind that amazon do not operate under UK law. They operate in accordance with the laws of luxembourg - which will be similar to our own but not the exact same. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0

The Acer laptops all seem to suffer with this problem on the faulty power sockets. You can get a spare from eBay for around 2 to 3 quid. I did one for a friend whose machine was out of warranty.
£55 is a joke.0
